Work Smarter, Not Harder: 7 Proven Strategies for Working Remotely & Travelling

Digital Nomad Productivity: Being productive, in general, can often be a challenge but working whilst constantly on the move, can make things harder.

A common challenge faced by many digital nomads is staying productive with constant temptations surrounding us.

We need to have self-discipline and motivation to get the most out of our day! But how?

Eliminate Distractions to Stay Productive as a Digital Nomad:

Understanding how you work best is important for your productivity. Spend some time identifying your preferred working style and locate a workspace that allows you to enter a focused state of mind.

For some individuals, this might involve setting up a dedicated and distraction-free workspace at home, while others may prefer coworking spaces or coffee shops that provide an environment conducive to productivity.

Ensure Sufficient Sleep to Stay Productive as a Digital Nomad:

Not getting enough sleep can directly impact your ability to work efficiently. Being well-rested will make you more productive. It’s also crucial to establish a consistent sleep schedule that aligns with your body’s natural rhythm. Pay attention to your body’s signals and determine the optimal duration and pattern of sleep that works best for you.

Prepare in Advance to Stay Productive as a Digital Nomad:

Allocate 10 minutes each evening to plan for the upcoming day. This proactive approach allows you to wake up with a clear understanding of your tasks and objectives, providing a sense of direction and purpose for the day ahead.

Practice Time Management to Stay Productive as a Digital Nomad:

Develop strong time management skills to optimize your productivity. Break down larger tasks into smaller, manageable chunks, set realistic deadlines, and prioritize your work based on importance and urgency. Use time-blocking techniques to allocate specific periods for specific activities, allowing you to focus solely on the task at hand.

Establish a Routine to Stay Productive as a Digital Nomad:

Make it simple. You don’t have to build a routine for your entire day but in your ever-changing life, this helps you get into the zone of working as your body will adjust to the routine. I have a morning routine that I can do from anywhere which helps eliminate any decision-making and allows for a great start to the day.

Take Breaks and Rest to Stay Productive as a Digital Nomad:

Recognize the importance of regular breaks and rest periods to maintain your overall well-being and productivity. Incorporate short breaks into your work schedule, allowing yourself to relax, stretch, or engage in activities that rejuvenate your mind and body. Strive for a healthy work-rest balance to sustain long-term productivity as a digital nomad.

I’ll often schedule a few 10 mins breaks throughout the day to keep up my energy levels. I find that going for a walk, having a coffee or calling a friend or even a nap, allows me to come back to work feeling refreshed.

Travel Slow to Stay Productive as a Digital Nomad:

Slow travel gives you the chance to build a routine and in turn, avoid having to adapt to every new environment.

Adopting these strategies can significantly boost your productivity as a digital nomad.

Find the methods that work best to maximize your productivity at work The more efficient you are, the less time you’ll feel overworked and stressed allowing more time to enjoy your travels.

In summary, in order to stay productive as a digital nomad, be sure to follow these tips:
